Mei-chan and Kira-chan were two of the last sea otters living in any aquarium in Japan. At Toba Aquarium in Mie Prefecture they ate together, played together, and drifted in the same pool, and their clips were shared millions of times around the world.

This November, Kira-chan passed away. Mei-chan is left in the water without her longtime companion.

Sea otters hold paws so they don't drift apart while they sleep. Mei's paw is still reaching. ♡

$MEI is a community takeover built to remember them both. It is a meme coin, and it is also a small memorial: a place where people who loved these two can gather, share their favourite moments, and keep Kira's memory floating next to Mei.
